Daycare Provider goes above the call of duty

Filed under: Me have Children? — david @ 11:15 pm

I have already mentioned my daycare provider is a special daycare provider.  This lady will go over and above the call of duty.  Well she was at it again this Friday.

She has a yearly ‘daycare’ Christmas party.  We have to pick up the kids at 3 so she can get everything prepared.  Beside the lovely buffet, the fact grandparents were also invited and the kids did a small concert… this is all beyond the little drummer boy number she had put together.

The group of 4 kids comes marching out of the back room in the basement to the drummer’s boy song.  My daughter is at the front pulling a wagon with a…..live sheep!!!

Well the kids spent the following 10 minutes petting the sheep and I did Santa Claus (again).

All in all it was a magic night, BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

All right this is a ‘daddy bragging post’  You don’t have to read further if you don’t want to…

My spouse was watching my daughter do the outside of her hand and writing in the middle…. To her amazement, she wrote her name.  It’s been about 2 weeks she has been writing her name at the daycare and the daycare provider didn’t tell us (she wanted it to be a surprise, thank you).

Well here it is, immortalized forever, Bravo Zoé!

Survivor Syndrome

Filed under: Me have Children? — david @ 4:45 pm

I call it Survivor Syndrome… The urge of seeing and hearing everything in real time.  My spouse has a monitor for the kids in our room.  This thing has a green/red scale but it’s not sufficient for my spouse as it won’t wake us up if we are sleeping and a kid is coughing.

This brings me to my point.  Do we need to hear our kids’ cough at 2am or should we sleep right through it.  I understand if a kid is really sick.. but in that instant, shouldn’t we be with the kid anyway?

How did our mothers manage their nights when baby monitors didn’t exist?  I think I will ask my mom this question tonight.

P.s I am not sure if my spouse knows there is now a video version of these monitors… I think I will buy her one for xmas… this way she will be able to check on the kids all night just in case they were abducted by aliens or something.
