CSI Daycare (Front Lawn Edition)

Filed under: Me have Children? — david @ 12:13 pm

After extensive research and analysis of the suspect, our team of forensic analyst have came up with the conclusion the Tur-I-Lantern proposition from Whit was erronous.  The brown individual is a figment of the daycares’ provider imagination.  She doesn’t know exactly why he was created and thinks it’s maybe a peanut.  There is rumor of a plot to assassinate the peanut… we have identified Caspar and One legged pumpkin as the main suspects in the plot…

While investigating the surroundings for evidence our crew also found the getaway car for Caspar and his gang.

Keep your eyes open tomorrow, If you see a hay Hot Rod, driven by a one legged pumpkin and Caspar with a peanut in the trunk, please call 911 and advise our Team at CSI Daycare.

Happy Halloween!

Thumbs up for overboard daycare provider.

Filed under: Me have Children? — david @ 10:14 am

Our daycare provider is pretty intense.  She is around 50 and takes cares of our kids they were her own.   She does go overboard sometimes which I prefer by far than having  our kids ‘understimulated’.  Conclusion… I have heard many awful daycare stories… We love ours and we say a big Merci Claudette!

Please have a look at her front lawn.  She either doesn’t want to cut her grass or is really pumped about Halloween!

Are you scared?

Balance

I have been on business travels for the last 3 days.  It was my final meeting for my carreer in the insurance industry.  We visited our life insurance Head Office in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Anytime I am in a new city, I like to jog downtown at 6-7am to meet the locals, the real people who make up this city.   Well it was pretty hard this time around since most of them had tuques and scarf!

This post is about balance.  As a parent, I do have to say I like the 3day meetings.  It changes the drum beat of my march.  The schedual is mine to take, I have a choice to have a drink at 5 or go to the gym, I have time to read the newspaper from 7am to 8am.  To be blunt, I don’t really miss them on a 3 day trip.  Sure, you think about them when the plane prepares for landing but in the end for me… that’s pretty much it!  I make the most of my 3 days and dwelling on the kids is not my thing.

I love my kids and I think this is sane…is it?

Courage

It brought tears to my eyes.  My personal struggles are so distant, so removed when I read this.

Summer’s Top 3

Filed under: Me have Children? — david @ 12:42 pm

Since we are closing the cottage this weekend, I was thinking about my summer.  Here is my top 3 ‘things’ from this summer

3- Launch of Electronic Time Capsule

Well I worked on this for the last 2 years.  Seeing it come alive was quite the rush.  The ups and downs of starting a business.  Scary and Exiting.

2- 8hr Mountain Bike Race

I did this with my friend Ben.  4hr each of grueling mountain biking with another 300 faster, younger healthier bikers.  We got our ass kicked but it had been a while since I had pushed myslef this hard.  There is no need to mention I fell on my first vertical drop.

1- Fishing with Zoé

Countless hours of fishing with my daughter on the pedal boat.  Talking to the birds, waves, worms & fishes. it was my favorite summer activity.  We were fishing in 6 foot deep water and caught countless pirch and sunfish under a foot.  She was as amazed at catching her first or 20th fish.  Every fish was thrown back into the water as she said they needed to attend a birthday party!?!

What was your top ’thing’ of the summer?

Shadow Parenting

Filed under: Me have Children? — david @ 6:46 pm

I worked from home today and alexis got sick and so did his mom.  As I stayed with Alexis, I observed at how much my kids learn from looking at me.  It dawned on me how confusing this world must be for a 1 year old.  Here is my top 3 of what my son must be confused with:

- Eventually everything goes in the white box they call garbage. I might as well help them and whatever is within reach is fair game.  Why are they constantly saying no when I am trying to help them?

- Why do we eat with a spoon?  It doesn’t make any sense.  Hands are faster and more precise.

- What is it whith this tiny object they call camera?  When it’s pulled out everybody gets crazy and does funny things…  This must be a happy device of some sort which the moment I approach they all freak.  Selfish bastards!

OK this is a bad picture as he just woke up but it speaks for itself.
